Chestnut Mountain Nature Park

Chestnut Mountain serves as a regional hub for outdoor recreation and conservation with an extensive trail network, spaces to play, learn, and explore. This incredible space is forever protected through the work of Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and many other amazing partners. With 450 acres of land, this inclusive space encourages local community members to come together and have fun while appreciating the natural scenery around them.

Race through 9 miles of mountain biking trails, take a hike along 8 miles of way to challenging paths, enjoy a family picnic at Bridge Park, or take in forest views from one of the treehouses along Turnpike Trail.

Day Use Area
Easily accessible from the entrance of the park, this area will serve as a portal into nature for family activities. There will be areas for picnic tables and other forms of outdoor seating. Cool off in the shade of the pavilion or in the shaded structures around the park. Kids can enjoy a Tyke Bike playground to enjoy rides of their own.

Picnic Area
As part of the Front Country of the nature park, the picnic area will include small picnic pavilions, benches, and an outdoor-themed playground. Great for family and friends to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors together.

Berm Park
Up the hill from the picnic and day-use area is Berm Park Bike Skills Course. This is one of the main attractions for mountain bikers who are seeking a more active biking experience. Essentially a park within a park, this area will consist of over a mile of bike trails for riders to boost their skills in a safe environment.

Multi-use trails
In addition to Berm Park, the property will have a multitude of trails for hiking and mountain biking. People of all ages and experience levels can enjoy over 15 miles of trails spanning both the front country and backcountry. Several trails can be accessed by foot or by bike. Bikers can choose their trails based on their desired difficulty and experience level. Hikers can find solace and outdoor beauty on one of the many hiking only trails as well. Sprinkled throughout the park will be treehouse-style overlooks that will be fun destinations for the whole family.
