Filming and photography guidelines

Photos and videos are some of the best ways to capture the beauty of Haywood, but there are a few rules of the road to know first.

Filming permits on public lands
Most of Haywood County's most photogenic spots, including Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Pisgah National Forest require permits for commercial photography and videography.

Each agency has its own process, so be sure to check the relevant websites in advance.

  • Great Smoky Mountains National Park
  • Blue Ridge Parkway
  • Pisgah National Forest

Drone rules
Drones are prohibited in national parks, including Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Cataloochee Ski Area. Pisgah National Forest has its own restrictions depending on the area. Always check current regulations before you fly.

Need help with logistics?
If you're planning a larger production or aren't sure where to start, our PR team can help you navigate permits and connect you with local resources.
