For an explosion of autumn color, Maggie Valley is the place to be. Whether you’re hiking the popular Waterrock Knob or shopping on Soco Road, vibrant hues will flood your vision. There’s unparalleled magic when it comes to autumn in the Smokies.
Not only are outdoor excursions popular this time of year, but there are also a number of exciting events happening in Maggie Valley during the month of October. All three of these festivals are held at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds.
October 5: 46th Annual Fall Regional Shelby/Mustang & Ford Meet
Ford vehicles are as synonymous with Americana as baseball and apple pie. This event is hosted by the Northeast Georgia Mustang Club and welcomes all years of Mustangs/Shelbys and Ford bodied or Ford-powered vehicles. Admission is free and with delicious food and a plethora of events, this festival is enjoyable for family members of all ages. While there is no cost for spectators, the car registration fee is $25/vehicle. Onsite registration will be available on Friday, October 4, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the show site. On Saturday, October 5, the show will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with registration open until noon.
October 19 & 20: Maggie Valley Arts & Crafts Show
Maggie Valley’s largest gathering of regional artists and craftspeople is held three times a year with the final event being in October. This highly anticipated festival is a wonderful place to purchase holiday gift items that are unique, handcrafted, and locally made. Vendor items include yard art, seasonal items, paintings, photography, pottery, wooden bowls, furniture, jewelry, goat milk soaps, and more. Along with shopping for crafts, festival-goers can enjoy delicious food and live demonstrations. Hours are Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
October 25-27: Smokin’ Rodz in the Smokies
If you’re a classic car lover, this event is for you. The cars in this show pre-date 1949 and are kept in pristine condition. Perusing the rows of cars allows attendees to step back in time and remember the rods of old. This Vintage Street Rodders of America event also includes a live DJ, food vendors, crafters, and other swap meet vendors. There will be a kickoff event on Thursday, October 24, at Wheels Through Time Museum from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a free cookout for all registered car owners.
