Whether you are a first-timer or a pro, Cataloochee Ski Area offers 18 slopes for plenty of snow sliding fun. While we wouldn’t blame you for hopping in your car ASAP, to prepare for your trip full of winter adventures, here are some “know-before-you-go” tips:
Plan your dates and grab your passes
Make sure to review Cataloochee’s hours of operation so you don’t miss out on the action. To maintain social distancing, you’ll need to purchase your lift tickets and rental equipment online and ahead of time. Then you’ll be ready to hit the slopes when you show up! They also offer group rates, season passes, and more. Did you know you can pick up your rental gear the night before your session? That sounds like a smart idea to us!
Pack your snow gear
We can assure you that being out on the slopes is more fun if you’re wearing warm, waterproof gear. We suggest packing your typical winter accessories like a hat, gloves, and tall socks. You should also steer away from cotton outerwear like jeans, otherwise, you’ll be in for a wet, cold adventure. If you’re not a regular skier or snowboarder and don’t have the proper attire, you can rent ski pants, jackets, and helmets at Cataloochee.
Check out the weather and slope conditions
You wouldn’t head out for a hike without checking the weather first, right? Treat your skiing adventure the same way. Cataloochee offers a full weather report as well as the operating status for each slope and lift. They also have a live webcam, so you can take a peek at the conditions for yourself.
