Plan a Romantic Getaway in Haywood

Plan a Romantic Getaway in Haywood

Want a Valentine’s Day that will make your heart skip a beat? Fill it with cozy cabins, romantic dinners, delicious drinks, and days full of winter adventures! You’re only a scenic road trip away from the beautiful Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Grab your sweetheart and check out our guide to planning the most romantic weekend ever—until next year, at least.

RAISE A GLASS, RAISE YOUR SPIRITS

Make a toast to a love that lasts forever with one of our finest locally-crafted spirits. Whatever your tastes, you can find something you’ll enjoy to the last drop from our breweries or distilleries:

ELEVATED MOUNTAIN DISTILLERY

This distillery sources water from local streams to make the freshest and smoothest liquors around. We’re big fans of the Hurricane Creek vodka, but the best way to find your favorite is to schedule a tour and sample them for yourself.

FROG LEVEL BREWING COMPANY

This hoppin’ brewery is located in the Frog Level neighborhood of Waynesville. Enjoy brews and cantina creations for a match made in heaven. You’ll also fall for their atmosphere.

BOOJUM BREWING

Enjoy the lively sights and sounds of Downtown Waynesville at Boojum Brewing Co. Perfect for a beer and a shareable snack after shopping along Main Street.

BEARWATERS BREWING

With a beautiful, spacious back deck overlooking Pigeon River and the town of Canton, BearWaters is the perfect place to fall in love all over again. Have a taste of their regionally inspired Papertown Pilsner while you’re there.

DINNER AND A SHOW

Simplify your Valentine’s Day with a classic date night on the town: enjoy a romantic dinner and see a standing-ovation-worthy performance.

BLUE ROOSTER SOUTHERN GRILL

A Clyde favorite, visitors love the high-quality service and the delicious fried chicken. Our mouth is watering just thinking about it.

CHEF’S TABLE

Like to wine and dine? This award-winning Waynesville restaurant designs its farm-to-table cuisine with wine pairings in mind. It’s close to all the other draws on Main Street, too!

THE CLASSIC WINESELLER

The epitome of dinner and a show, the Wineseller offers live music performances every Friday and Saturday night, along with plenty of delectable menu items to share.

HART

For performing arts fanatics, HART Theatre offers some of the highest quality productions in the region night after night. Check out what shows will be gracing the stage.

WINTER ADVENTURES

No winter trip to the mountains is complete without immersing yourself in the great outdoors—even if it’s only for a few hours. For first-timers, taking in the views is a must for your NC Smoky Mountain itinerary. These adventures will take your breath away.

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

Cataloochee Ski Area is one of the southernmost ski slopes in the country, yet it still manages to keep its slopes running past some of our friends up north. They’ve also got slopes for all skill levels and affordable equipment rentals. The view from the top of Upper Omigosh will stay with you both forever!

SNOW TUBING

If the slopes aren’t a good match, we’ve got a lane open for you at Tube World. Not to mention it’s within sliding distance to several locally-famous Maggie Valley restaurants, too!

WINTER HIKES

The weather in Haywood County always stays mild enough for hiking—even in the winter. Capture that picture-perfect moment with your sweetheart for a lasting memory Just make sure to tag us with #HayNow *wink wink!

FIND THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY

While all these adventures make our hearts flutter, sometimes a relaxing night-in is just as romantic. Check out these spectacular stays in Haywood:

BED AND BREAKFASTS IN WAYNESVILLE

Waynesville has an array of historical homes that have been converted to charming bed and breakfasts. Enjoy friendly hospitality and cozy accommodations for your getaway. Plus, their proximity to downtown makes it the perfect spot to spend your long weekend.

HOTELS IN MAGGIE

Maggie Valley’s got a lot going on—staying in a locally-owned hotel or motel located along Jonathon Creek is a great place to be if you want to experience everything Haywood has to offer.

A CABOOSE IN CLYDE

Treat yourself to a stay aboard some luxuriously restored freight liners at Buffalo Creek Vacations in Clyde, NC. They have several cabins available for rental, too.

RENTALS IN LAKE JUNALUSKA

Catch a glimpse of a Lake Junaluska sunrise when you stay at one of their beautiful rentals. Enjoy a romantic stroll around the lake to make your trip even more heartfelt.

LAKE LOGAN IN CANTON

Speaking of lakes, there’s another one with a stunning backdrop in the NC Smokies: Lake Logan. Check this one out if you’re looking for a more secluded getaway that can include fishing, kayaking, games, trails, massages, and art classes.

We know time spent with your loved one is invaluable. We hope you’ll visit and fall in love with Haywood as much as you love each other. When the time comes for your getaway in the NC Smokies, don’t forget to tag us in your romantic adventures with #HayNow or @VisitNCSmokies.
