Your Haywood Holiday How To: Gift Shopping

Your Haywood Holiday How To: Gift Shopping

The holiday season is all about enjoying the ones you love and the priceless traditions you share. While that’s what truly makes this time of year special, there may be a daunting task lingering in the back of your mind—holiday shopping. The good news is there is no need to fear. Consider Haywood your one-stop-shop for all things festive and unique for all the special people in your life. The best part, it can all be accomplished in this dreamy mountain destination. Time to make your list and check it twice this season.

WHERE TO GO SHOPPING

For many, the most time-consuming holiday task is knocking out your shopping list. Fortunately, there are plenty of places in our smoky mountain towns of Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Canton, Clyde, and Lake Junaluska to find a real treasure to leave under the tree (we can find you some coal too if that’s what you need). We pulled a few shops to guide you as you sleigh your shopping quest.

MOUNTAIN MIKE’S WHETSTONE WOOD WORKS – MAGGIE VALLEY

One-of-a-kind woodworking creations cover almost every square inch of Mountain Mike’s shop in Maggie Valley. Mountain Mike is a master woodcarver and can whittle just about anything you’ve got in mind. His nature-derived crafts make the perfect addition to any home or garden.

DIFFERENT DRUMMER POTTERY – MAGGIE VALLEY

To keep your gifts of the handmade variety, stop by Different Drummer in Maggie Valley. This shop is filled with wheel-thrown stoneware and porcelain works of art that’ll add a splash of color for one lucky recipient on your list. You may also catch them in action when you visit!

HAZELWOOD SOAP COMPANY – CANTON AND WAYNESVILLE

All good adventurers get a little dirty (it comes with the terrain), so give them the gift of cleanliness! Family-owned, Hazelwood Soap Company has long been a member of the Haywood shopping community, and their new shop in Canton is a perfect place to stop by for artisanal, hand-made soaps of various scents.

PIGEON RIVER MERCANTILE – CANTON

A mix of well-known brands and locally sourced goods, Pigeon River Mercantile in Canton is the best place to go for that person on your list that likes a little bit of everything. They offer locally made pottery, décor, clothing, jewelry, and so much more. You can’t go wrong!

ROBIN BLU– WAYNESVILLE

An eclectic gift shop with something for everyone—Robin Blu has clothing, jewelry, candles, and more. They have two locations in Waynesville: Main Street and Hazelwood. Shop for yourself or find a curated good for someone special.

DILLSBORO CHOCOLATE FACTORY – WAYNESVILLE

We know you’ve got a sweet tooth or two on your list, so we found a great place to find your treats: Dillsboro Chocolate Factory in Waynesville! They have freshly made delicacies ranging from truffles to fudge to bark. Their sweets are sure to make any chocolate lover melt.

COFFEE CUP CAFÉ – CLYDE

Sure, maybe you didn’t expect a restaurant to make the cut here, but trust us, a trip to Coffee Cup Café will stay with your recipient as long as any of the treasures you gift. You can wrap up a gift card and place it under their tree, or you can bring them by on your next trip to Clyde. We all know how much a coffee lover needs their coffee, so this gift means more than you might expect.

JUNALUSKA GIFTS & GROUNDS – LAKE JUNALUSKA

Near the beautiful waters of Lake Junaluska lies Junaluska Gifts & Grounds, a quaint but cozy little shop that’s stocked with memorable gifts like local pottery, apparel, and books. That’s only half the story—you can also grab a coffee and a sandwich for your stroll around the lake. Sounds like a win-win to us!

This is just a sneak peek of all the specialty shops to explore while you’re in Haywood County. It’s time to spend holiday shopping the Haywood way—surrounded by majestic mountain views. For even more holiday planning tips, stop by our Visitor Center in Maggie Valley. We’d love to help!
