Guided Hikes in Haywood County, NC

From lush forests and wildflower-covered meadows to panoramic mountain vistas, Haywood County is rife with can't-miss outdoor experiences. For the novice hiker, some trails may seem intimidating or unapproachable, but don't worry! Haywood has several experience guided hiking options which offer outdoor recreation experiences at your desired pace.

1. Haywood County Recreation & Parks

Haywood's official authority on outdoor recreation, Haywood County Recreation & Parks leads group hikes across the county for $10 per hike. Those in town year-round can buy a 6-month hiking pass for $30! With the vast majority of their excursions rated easy to moderate, their programs are approachable to anyone looking to dip their toe into mountain exploring.

2. NCline Adventures

NCLine Adventures offers unforgettable, guided outdoor experiences in the heart of Western North Carolina. From scenic hikes through Pisgah National Forest to immersive culinary and fishing-hiking-combo excursions, NCLine curates unique adventures tailored to all interests and skill levels. Their expert guides ensure each journey is not only safe and enjoyable but also personalized, with photo memories and thoughtful local insights.

3. Appalachian Adventure Company

Famous for their Forest Bathing experiences, Appalachian Adventure Company invites folks to dig deep and reconnect with nature. Each trip explores local history, folklore, flora and fauna. Created and led by born-and-bred Haywood County locals, their guides have personal connections to the history of the land, giving each trip a meaningful touch.

4. Food for Adventures

Food For Adventures offers guided "Forage to Plate" hikes that invite you to explore the outdoors in a truly immersive way. Led by a team of passionate adventurers—Meghan, Ziggy, and Lee—you’ll set out on a local trail to forage for wild, edible plants, fungi, and flowers. After the hike, relax and enjoy a post-hike picnic lunch crafted from the very ingredients you gathered.
