Fall is a stunning time to visit western North Carolina, particularly Maggie Valley. It's the time of the year when fun reaches new peaks! While we love having visitors year-round, it’s no secret that fall is our most popular season. With gorgeous weather, a beautiful landscape, outdoor adventures, and attractions galore, our guests always leave content and full of memories. Leaf Peeping
Early October through November is the prime time for vibrant hues among the fall foliage of Maggie Valley. As the season progresses, leaves begin to change color, beginning at the high elevations of our mountaintops and working their way down. Hikers and leaf-lookers can expect vibrant reds, gold, oranges, and yellows as they frolic and enjoy the season's shorter days and cooler temperatures. Weather is also a significant factor when it comes to vibrancy of colors. Rain, frost, heat, and everything in-between can affect when, for how long and how brightly leaves change colors. Bugling of the Elk
The elk herd in Maggie Valley and the surrounding area is strong and growing. Family members of all ages love to view and photograph these majestic animals in their active state. Most importantly, though, remember that the fall is their mating season, and while these these creatures are fascinating, they are also instinctual. Therefore, it's best to yield them space and observe from a distance. With that being said, mating season is when the ‘bugling of the elk’ occurs, when a male elk makes a sound like a bugle to attract cows (female elk) and ward off competitors.
Fall Hikes

Note to the wise, you will want to reserve enough time truly relish in nature and your time spent exploring. Make sure to account for extra travel time and breaks so you don't feel rushed on the trail.

Maggie Valley is one of the most popular destinations in the country for motorcyclists. Each year, the curvy roads and beautiful byways attract visitors of all engine types! Why, you ask? Well, what better way to view the scenery than in the open air along the stunning Blue Ridge Parkway? If you enjoy riding motorcycles, cruising along the highway between Maggie Valley, Cherokee and other surrounding towns is a perfect way to spend a fall day.
